The Maha Samadhi of Sri Swami Satyananda
Guru Bhakti Sadhana for 5th and 6th of each month

At midnight on the 5th December 2009, Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati attained the highest state of Maha Samadhi. On 6th December he was given Bhu Samadhi at Rikhiapeeth. Exactly one year later, 6th December 2010 was the first day of the Sat Chandi Mahayajna, and on the very same day the Sannyasa Abhishek of Swami Niranjan, the spiritual successor to Sri Swamiji was conducted.

This is no coincidence, but an indication of auspiciousness. The day and the event of Maha Samadhi was chosen by Sri Swamiji himself and the fifth and sixth days of each month will abound with his blessings, spiritual energy and radiance. Accordingly, at Ganga Darshan Vishwa Yogpeeth and at Rikhiapeeth, these days are considered sacred and special pujas and worship are conducted every month.

For the benefit of all devotees and spiritual aspirants a simple sadhana has been given by Swami Niranjan, to be practiced on the 5th and 6th day of every month. This sadhana is a means to offer ones devotion, adoration and worship to Sri Swamiji and come into alignment with the higher vibrations of illumined consciousness emanating at that time.

On 5th December at 6.30 in the morning, in a place of worship which has been cleaned and decorated, a jyoti (oil candle) should be lit in front of a photo of Sri Swamiji. A photo of Sri Swami Sivananda should also be placed beside Sri Swamiji. Flowers can be placed around the jyoti and photos. Incense should be burnt.

This flame must be looked after so it can burn continuously from 6.30 am on the day of the 5th until 12 midnight on the night of 6th. All chanting should be done in front of this jyoti, and offerings and worship made to the photos of Sri Swamiji and Sri Swami Sivananda.

Those who are able to, can conduct havan during the mantras for both morning and evening sadhanas. Those who are not able to perform havan can simply chant the mantras.
