NIRANJAN SATSANG SERIES From 5th to 7th February, during the second Yogadrishti Satsang Series, Swamiji spoke on the development of yoga from ancient to modern times and the tradition of Satyananda Yoga. Describing yoga as the contemplation and worship of life, and detailing the four ashramas as the means to achieve this, Swamiji explained the Divine Life as conceived by Sri Swami Sivananda and lived by Sri Swami Satyananda. The theme of the third Satsang held from 5th to 9th March, was living a Divine Life. Swamiji explained how a life of dharma may be lived by imbibing the right samskaras. He identified the six causes of distburbance in life and gave practical sadhanas to overcome these obstacles, as well as explaining the four-fold sadhana a spiritual aspirant must follow. From April 5th to 8th, during the auspicious occasion of Navaratri the fourth satsang was conducted during which Swamiji expounded on sadhana as the tool, method and means for overcoming the limitations in life and transcending the individual conditioned nature. Explaining the movement from tamas to sattwa as the path of sadhana, Swamiji gave clear indications as to the practices for both sannyasin and householder aspirants. From 12th to 15th May, the fifth Satsang Series of 2011 was held. The theme was jnana yoga. Swamiji explained the four steps leading to jnana and spoke on the natural sequence of the four maha vakyas, the great statements. In these inspiring satsangs, he developed a new understanding of the classical components of jnana yoga - mumukshutva, viveka, vairagya and shadsampatti. The theme of the Satsang Series from 12th to 15th July, was the tradition of sannyasa. Swamiji spoke on the origins and development of the sannyasa parampara, describing the lives and teachings of eminent sages and gurus from ancient times, including Dattatreya, Adi Guru Shankaracharya, Swami Sivananda and Swami Satyananda, who were major forces in preserving, continuing and developing the spiritual current of India. Through describing these great personalities, Swamiji elucidated on the essence of the guru tattwa. From 19th to 22nd August, the theme of the Yogadrishti satsang series was yoga sadhana. Swamiji revealed the spiritual sciences and traditions in a classical and deep yet light manner, bringing to life the insight and wisdom of the ancient seers and the scriptures. The Navaratri Satsang was held from 29th September to 2nd October. Swamiji spoke on the two major paths of tantra, namely the path of transformation and transmutation, or dakshinachara and vamachara, as well as the the nine acharas or classes of tantra.
