During the early years of Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati's stay in Munger, when he came out of seclusion after many years of intense yoga practice, people flocked from all over the world to be in his presence.

The numerous satsangs and discourses he gave at that time and in subsequent years when he travelled all over India and the world resulted in a multitude of books on a vast range of topics.

Apart from elucidating the ancient and hitherto unknown practices of yoga and tantra such as yoga nidra, antar mouna, kriya yoga, ajapa japa, dharana and dhyana, his talks gave deep insight into the vedic and upanishadic darshanas, and the evolution of vedic philosophy down through the ages, from adwaita to dwaita and traita vada. He also spoke on the major religions and changes in their main stream thought.

His books also had an immense practical application, as he dealt with the aspects of good health and the unfoldment of human potential in a manner that could be easily applied in daily life. In the short span of twenty years, which was his period at Bihar School of Yoga, Munger, Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati gave concise and clear instructions on yoga and its allied topics in a manner never done before.

These books form part of the syllabi in universities all over the world and are referred to by doctors and scientists to deepen their understanding of human existence in relation to the innate potential of human beings. One of his earliest books, Asana Pranayama Mudra Bandha, is a best seller and a permanent number one on the charts of yoga literature. His magnum opus on tantra and yoga is a classic collector's item, containing for the first time in one book everything you ever wanted to know about the body, mind and spirit, written in clear and precise terminology. The knowledge disseminated by Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati through his books covers the span of many millenniums as there is simply no topic he has not dealt with.

From Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati's initial teachings, other disciples have also authored books, covering an extensive variety of related subjects in their specific fields of research. These books deal with the therapeutic aspects of yoga as well as its importance for the evolution of human beings to superconsciousness.

Today, Yoga Publications Trust's authentic collection of books is in demand throughout the world. In addition to books, we produce a magazine, Yoga, and its Hindi counterpart, Yoga Vidya.
