Radha Krishna Jhulan

One of the most popular folk festivals of rural India, Radha Krishna Jhulan is celebrated in each and every home during the month of Sravan in the rainy season.

It is a festival of pure unadulterated bhakti in which devotees adorn and decorate swings in which they place Krishna and Radha for all to see. Then amidst most popular and soul stirring kirtans and bhajans devotees gently swing their beloved deity and offer their worship. Arti is also performed so that bhaktas can pray to the Lord to remove their obstacles and fulfil their wishes.

This five day festival is conducted every year at Rikhia Peeth amidst a lot of fanfare, pomp and ceremony for devotees who throng on thousands to witness this grand spectacle. Each day the swings are freshly decorated and adorned with beautiful finery to glorify and beauty and uniqueness of Lord Krishna.

Devotees then sing and dance to the enthralling and lilting tunes of the Kanya Kirtans who sing uninterrupted for many hours much to the delight of the audience.

Through kirtan you can reach the highest pinnacle of spiritual experience. Not by yoga or by any other means, but by kirtan alone you can have the vision of the Divine...

Music does the most important groundwork by taking yourself away from you. Music has so much inherent power that it can free you from your ego.

The element of Ahamkara would be totally eliminated of you were to follow the above prescription.
