Annapoorna Kshetra Kanya Kitchen
Sivananda Ashram will be undertaking this mammoth task of feeding over two thousand children and aged persons a meal every day so that in time they overcome the effects of malnutrition and inadequate food. This is very important step in ashrams activities as annadaan or offering of food to the hungry is considered the highest yajna. Apart from filling their empty stomachs food strengthen their organs and facilitates their growth. But more than that the effect of the food consumed is transferred to the subtle realms of the mind, emotions and spirit as well, as it is well-known fact that the food you eat has a direct and immediate bearing on your thought, actions, emotions and responses. In this way Sivananda Ashram distributes food for the soul, food for the mind and food for the body. Through the medium of food Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati impregnates each and every receiver of this prasadam with spiritual blessings to shine forth in every sphere in their lives. At the Rajasooya Yajna in 2002, Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati said, Man is the only creature who knows God. Therefore, when a child dies of hunger, in actual fact it is God who dies. By feeding the poor and needy, you feed God; by serving them you serve God and by honouring them you honour God.
The fulfillment of this glorious sankalpa is rendered possible through the many successful and visionary programs of Sivananda Ashram which strives for the continued upliftment and evolution of the entire area of Santhal Parganas of Jharkhand. Go to page [2]
