Report of Activities 19981998 During 1998 Sivananda Math commenced construction of the three storey hospital, Amrit Kalash, at the village of Amarva. It has a dispensary and provides hospital rooms for those patients who need post-operative care and supervision. During the year, free medical treatment was provided on a daily basis for the local village people, and 12,000 patients were examined and treated on an out-patient basis. The full treatment of 250 TB patients was also undertaken. Sivananda Math also began construction of a house in the village of Rangamore, as well as the painting and renovation of two village mandirs: Baba Mandir at Harla Jori and Kali Mandir at Amarva. From February 1998 through to March 1999 Sivananda Math initiated a project for the rehabilitation, education, upliftment and financial aid of underprivileged village widows. During this period, 24 widows spent 4 hours daily in the Akhara premises, attending classes on mantra chanting and reading and writing in Hindi.
Stationery, notebooks, school uniforms, art materials, pencil cases, school bags, games, toys, text books, dictionaries, books for school libraries etc. were distributed to the students of Rikhia Middle School, Amarva, Dev Sang School, Deoghar and Nawadih Middle School, Nawadih. All teachers were presented with blankets, umbrellas, diaries, calendars, notebooks, stationery, Bihar School of Yoga publications and clothing. Sivananda Math awarded a scholarship and course books to Badal Kumar Raut, S/o Vasudev Raut, Vill. Lorhia, Panchayat Rikhia Modern Public School, Deoghar.
